Unity Mark Lodge Installation

Unity was re-dedicated in April 2013 as a Lodge for past wardens of the Province, with Tony Harrison being the first WM.  No wonder the standard was high for the Installation!  And it was a delight to see Tony giving out the collars as the officers were invested - still working hard in the Mark Degree, despite doing quite well in the Craft......

It was however a meeting tinged with a certain sadness, as we all knew this would be the last visit by Peter Connolly as Provincial Grand Master. The addresses were all given flawlessly by Tony Farrar to the new WM Howard Emmett, to the Wardens by Arthur Robinson, the overseers by John Forster, and that to the Brethren by Michael Clarke, who was the principal guest for the day. Bob McGown installed his successor wonderfully.

At dinner, Michael congratulated both Bob McGown and Howard Emmett for their work in Lodge, and thanked the Special Representatives present for their work, especially Paul Snape for the area. He also mentioned the new Grand ranks to be given on June the 9th. He also promoted the RAM Degree, which has a lower proportion of members than in some other Provinces, and urged us all to keep aware of potential members. After thanking Dave Emmerson, Provincial DC, and David Rotherham the Lodge secretary, he handed over to Bob McGown who said how much he enjoyed standing to the toast to Masters in Office at the festive boards.......and will miss it! Howard responded by thanking Bob for the ceremony, and his humour in carrying it out. He thanked everyone for their work, and Bill Joughin for agreeing to be his successor in 12 months time.
Thanks for your work Bob - well done!

Peter Connolly briefly spoke, giving the credit for saving Unity Mark to Tony Harrison, and Tony asked us all to stand and toast the Provincial Grand Master for all his superb work and achievements during his time in office.  The standing ovation was a fitting end to the day.
